The most fashionable stars are in New York today for the Met Ball 2012. The annual Costume Institute Gala Benefit – this year celebrating the opening of the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition – is a huge event in fashion and the stars bring their best looks. It’s an event where it can be okay to go a little over the top with a fancy ball gown. Dakota Fanning was fashionable as always in a lavender princess gown that managed to look more “high fashion” than “school prom.” Dakota’s hair was simple and romantic, with a flower holding it back behind her ear and her cuff bracelet added the perfect pop to the outfit!

All we can say about Lily Collins‘ look is WOW. The floral dress with lace on top has a very vintage, almost antique look that we’re really loving. This isn’t the kind of dress you could rock just anywhere, so we’re glad Lily knew to save it for an event like this one that’s about making a bold statement.

Lea Michele took a real chance with her Met Ball look, opting for a midnight blue dress with a plunging neckline that’s way outside of her comfort zone. Like her Glee costar Dianna, Lea wore her hair in classic curls and kept her makeup sophisticated.
